What is a Snagging Survey?

Are you buying a new build home, or one that has been recently refurbished? These homes aren’t necessarily ones that are ready to live in immediately. Most development projects are done against the clock, to tight timelines. Sometimes, things get missed, or there’s a miscommunication between the Builder.

So, how can you make sure your home lives up to your standards, or the standards that are supposedly being sold to you? A Snagging List will certainly help achieve this.

What is a Snag?

A snag is a defect – it can be a big or small issue and is not always obvious to detect. For example:-

  • A missing door hinge.
  • A cracked floor tile.
  • Incomplete/damaged guttering.
  • Finishing off.
  • Poor workmanship e.g. water-proofing of roofs, render/plastering, kitchen fittings, etc.

The Snagging List is a numbered list of repairs or alterations that have been highlighted by the Surveyor. This differs from a regular Survey in that it also identifies minor issues and lists all the works being individually required.

Ensuring the work is finished to the right standard is essential for your onward enjoyment of your new home. You shouldn’t settle for second best when paying for something to be completed to a set standard.

Using PA Surveyors gives you peace of mind. We’ll  push for any issues to be fixed, and will also be available to re-check the corrective work.

Why Instruct PA Surveyors?

There are many defects that would only be identified by a professional that looks at properties each day of the week. PA Surveyors often identify defects that people who have lived in a building for a number of decades hadn’t noticed!
